About Me

My name is Fiona Vandermeer

I use Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), which is a well-established, evidence-based talking therapy used to treat a wide range of mental health conditions. It teaches you coping mechanisms for dealing with different psychological issues.

It seeks to improve your state of mind by teaching you to spot the links between your thoughts, actions and feelings. These three elements influence one another in a continuous feedback loop.

The CBT triangle (or cognitive triangle) is a core cognitive framework showing how thoughts, emotions (feelings), and behaviours continuously interact. It illustrates how our interpretations of a situation, not the situation itself, drive how we feel and act, creating self-reinforcing cycles.

My Story

My mental health journey started when I was working for Shout, which is a mental health charity. I completed rigorous online training to prepare for assisting people in crisis with suicide, self-harm, depression and abuse.

My background (in my former life) was working for the Four Seasons Hotels with an unwavering commitment to excellence. The Golden Rule there was to treat others how we wanted to be treated, which is something I  have always aspired to.

I am a South West London girl living with my partner. My two children have now flown the nest. I am from a large family and have had a great deal of experience in death/illness. This has led me to become very empathetic and emotionally resilient.

I have had family serving in the military so have a good understanding of the toll this can take on them, especially on leaving the forces.

I look forward to helping individuals re-train their minds to give them tools so that they can cope with every day life.
